Alexander Emelianenko is a retired Russian mixed martial artist who was born on August 2, 1981 in Stary Oskol, Soviet Union. He is the younger brother of former MMA heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko. Alexander began his MMA career in 2003 and quickly gained a reputation as a powerful striker with a background in sambo and judo.
Emelianenko competed in various organizations including Pride FC, M-1 Global, and Bellator MMA. He had a successful career with notable wins over fighters such as Mirko Cro Cop, Sergei Kharitonov, and James Thompson. Emelianenko also faced controversy throughout his career, including testing positive for banned substances and serving time in prison for a conviction of sexual assault.
In 2011, Alexander Emelianenko announced his retirement from professional MMA competition. Since then, he has focused on promoting MMA events in Russia and continues to be involved in the sport in various capacities.
